Fail Week

This has been a week of fail. No posts within the last eight days. So much for that streak.

Basically, I've been bombarded with lots of homework leading up to this week, spring break. And even though it's spring break, the work never stops! I have internship applications and thesis work, and... I'm not going to get into that.

Once I've got my new portfolio [in fancy 11x17 pages~!] figured out, I'll post that up on here! So then the blog will be less lonely. :]

Viking! Part Two

I meant to have this done yesterday, but so it goes!

Here is the small resolution version of my submission to the LMU Animation Club's How to Train Your Dragon competition! Full print size is about 11.5"x10.5"

Viking!

In preparation for the release of Dreamworks How to Train Your Dragon, the Animation Club at my school is putting on a small contest of sorts.

Here is the first half of my entry [at a MUCH lower resolution].

I gotta say, I'm pretty proud of how that helmet turned out. I don't usually like doing metals, but I think it looks pretty snazzy.

3D Screencap

Today the sun captured my attention; it was such a nice day. And now I'm working on finishing some 3D homework, instead of drawing a comic. So, here's a quick test-render of what I'm working on!

It's still going to get a lot of work done, but I do believe it's coming along nicely!

Reeeeel!

Here it is!

I'm not sure about this whole thing. There's a good chunk of my thesis storyboard in there, as well as a bunch of other random stuff, like the little piece of animation I posted before.

Portfolio 2010.03.15

Here is the most current incarnation of my portfolio. I'm thinking of trying to do some more work in the next week that would be portfolio-worthy instead of just random sketches. So then, when I submit for the next two internships, I'll have something a bit more shiny. Reel update for tomorrow, since I'm expecting to be entirely brain-dead.

Animashuuns~

I've been working on putting together my portfolio and my reel, so I haven't had time to make anymore comics. However! I'll be putting up my portfolio here probably tomorrow.

In the mean time, here's an exercise from my character animation class that I found while looking for reel-worthy things. I did this Fall 2008, the first semester of my sophomore year.

MIDTERM!

My midterm killed my brain. This is what came out of it.

Sleeeeeeeep....

I meant to post this one yesterday, but that drawing demanded attention.

Have you ever been so tired that you start hallucinating in class? While it can certainly be interesting, it doesn't help when you go back to study and realize that gnomes actually weren't involved in the witch hunts, and the test won't actually include drawing a dragon.*

*Not entirely accurate, but fairly close to personal anecdotal notes.

Quick Sketch

Well, I had a comic I was working on for today, and then this image popped into my head, demanding to be drawn.

Photoshop CS4, about a half-hour, I believe.

Does it still count as the 9th if it's only a little bit after midnight?

What to Draw...

In an attempt to inspire myself to regularly update this blog, I'm going to steal the idea of doing a kind of sketch diary from Erica Moen, of DAR. Unfortunately that comic has ended, but it's still a great read!

Without further ado, a comic.
