Another idea page for this new story. I need to learn how to make things look scary instead of cute...

The number one thing you can do to help the picture look more intimidating is to use as many angular shapes and lines as you can possibly stuff into the picture. Natural examples would include the forked tongue of a snake compared to that of a human or the horns of a bull compared to the hump of a camel. It's also the reason people are so very scared of spiders.
The second thing you can do is to play up masses wherever possible. Its the reason people are still afraid of say, a large dog instead of a small. You can play up the size of the dorsal fin or the claws, or the hindlegs or even a neck muscle can give a more dramatic appearance.
If you were trying to avoid "cuteness", I think you should swap out the dilated "googly" looking eyes for something more along the eyes of a predator - reptilian eyes like a dinosaur or snake for example. Anything with a smaller pupil should go a long way towards making it look scarier, as a person's mind will immediately associate those eyes with a carnivore instead of herbivore.
You should describe some of the folds and sags on its skin or scales or whatever that is that covers a frog, and some of the skeletal framework, especially around the face. You could also reveal the gums or have a kind of downward angular crest on the dome of the head for a naturally angrier expression.
