Sunday Sketch~

The first two characters I ever came up with, way back when I was about nine. I don't actually remember the girl's name, but she was a princess of the Star People, with the power to create stars. Clearly, I had no idea what that actually meant. The wolf is Windhowl, her companion and guardian. Fully sentient, and always trying to chase after her, and keep her from doing something stupid.

I had a post for yesterday, a revised version of the post from Thursday, but unfortunately, I forgot to post it before I left! I'll get that up later today, after I get back home.

Since I'm somehow not busy enough with class work and film work and portfolio work... I'm gonna be starting up a new project soon! I'll be posting snippets here and there while I get things going.

Sketch-Up Stadium

I downloaded Sketch-Up today, and started working on a stadium for a board. I've had the idea for a while, but finally decided to actually get started on it! Sketch-Up was surprisingly easy and fun to use.

Here's what I've got so far:

I'm still messing with it a bit, and there's still the obstacle course-thing to work out. Should be fun! If anyone's got any advice for working with Sketch-Up, I'd love to hear it!

So, I got a request the other day! A rather interesting one too: "draw batman as a woodland creature." That sounded like fun, and I finally had a chance to sit down and think about it. The only question was: Which woodland creature? Here are a few studies and sketch ideas. Tomorrow, I'll do a final finished drawing. Let me know which is your favorite!

Now for something different!

This is the rough line work for a painting I've started. Instead of a daily drawing done in a single day, this one will be completed by this weekend instead. It's a nice break from finished colored character pieces.

Also, this will be used as a color/lighting/bg reference for the film! So there's that too.

As promised, here's Celeste!

No time for a finished sketch today, but here's a quick drawing of Celeste in her new costume with the Magnificent Phoenix.

And this is her new design, more or less! (The bag has changed a bit). I was never overly fond of her old design, but I had to start animating. Now that I have the time, I'm updating the animation to this.

Hey folks!

I haven't died! Just been REALLY busy. One of the things keeping me from my dailies is actually working on my film again. I recently bought ToonBoom Animate 2 so I could keep working from home. Soon I'll have a full shot finished from scanning through compositing, and I'll throw that up here. In the mean time: screenshot!

One thing I miss sorely from Animate Pro is the node-based compositing system. Animate just uses linear/layer compositing, which can sometimes get a bit interesting...
